Energy Efficiency
One of the most important aspects of a BGCH home is energy efficiency. We want to build a custom home that not only saves you money during construction, but for years after. Energy efficiency is the core of our building philosophy, and there are many different ways to build for efficiency and beauty simultaneously.
How much will we save on energy?
An important question for sure, but equally important is, “How will my lifestyle change when I go solar”? Homes come in a variety of shapes and sizes and every family has different electricity needs, but one common thread unites people looking to go solar. That thread is freedom. Freedom from utility rate hikes, freedom from foreign oil, and the freedom to run the air conditioning or fire up the hot tub whenever the occasion arises.
Leasing solar
Leasing a solar system = immediate savings. You don’t need to put any money down and your new electricity bill combined with your lease payment to Sungevity will be less than your previous bill. Additionally, because electricity rates are always on the rise, your system will produce incremental savings every year it’s on your roof.
Paying upfront
For most cash customers, it will take between seven and eight years for your savings to pay for your system, but once your system has been paid for the minimal maintenance required will mean that the ROI will be extensive.
Building Beyond Solar
In addition to solar energy, we utilize the following techniques to help our clients build sustainable, healthy, and energy efficient homes:
- Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) Homes
- Geothermal HVAC
- Solar Energy
- Open and Closed Cell Foam
- Tankless Water Heaters
- 16-20 SEER A/Cs
- Sealed Combustion Furnace
- Healthy Homes
- Fresh Air Return
- Energy Recovery Ventilator
- Solar Orientation
- Advanced Framing
- Structured Insulation Panels
Built Green Custom Homes can be tested with special diagnostic tools during the building process to assure maximum energy efficiency. The tests includes:
- Duct Blower Pre-Sheetrock Test
- Duct Blower Post-Sheetrock Test
- Manometer Pressure Measurements
- Blower Door Test
- Infrared Scanning and Thermal Imaging
